Once upon a time.....
in 1954, the Craft Shop was a small garden shed at the bottom of a garden in Cumbria, where the owners served teas in a flask to customers.
Over the years it evolved and is now 2 large 'cabins' which have turned into a veritable institution - a real Aladdin's cave of gifts. This is complimented by the Woodlands Tea Room which was added in 2001 and recently our new Coffee Cabin which is dog friendly!
We are surrounded by woodland and are ideally located as a meeting place for walkers, just a few yards away from the river Irt, a good salmon and sea trout river, which flows out of Wastwater (England's deepest lake). Fifteen minutes drive away by car is Wasdale (voted Britain's favourite view) where you will find Scafell Pike (England's highest mountain), Great Gable, Pillar, Red Pike, Crinkle Crags, Bowfell, Harterfell and Hardknott which are all close by. Other attractions in the area include Muncaster Castle, and the La'al Ratty Railway.
We have plenty of parking in our own car park. (Watch out for the red squirrels!)
We have disabled access for wheelchairs with a ramp and also disabled toilet facilities.
